In the course of its history, St. Michael's has sent out more than 2000 European missionaries to countries all over the world. Today the majority of our members come from the former mission lands. Members of the family of Steyl currently hail from over seventy nationalities. Mission has a new face. The former one-way street of mission "from here to there" is no longer. Missionaries from many non-European lands now come to us, as well. A lively mutual exchange and dialogue is taking place.

In addition to that a new missionary movement has developed in recent years: Young men and women join the Steyl mission undertaking for one or more years. It is a guided programme of temporary (short term) mission.
